Import from SmartPlant 3D experience?

Good afternoon All,

do any of you have experience of importing from either Intergraph SmartPlant 3D using I-Model Composition Server? or directly from a SmartPlant 3D Export?

Looking for any help and or guides to aid the first conversion.

Best Regards

Russ

Check out this video for how to use VUE loader to import SmartPlant files into Synchro.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PbApNyP7JA

    VUE/NavisWorks Workflow:

Export VUE and MDB2 from SmartPlant Review > Import to NavisWorks Manage with VUE Loader > Export to SPX with Synchro Plugin > Import SPX into Synchro

    3D Object Tree:

3D object retain names of SmartPlant objects. Parent objects retain name of component groups.

    Syncing:

Syncing possible with consistent file saving and modeling practices.

    User Fields:

SmartPlant user fields are retained at the component and parent level.

    Limiting 3D Object Tree:

Limiting 3D object tree allows for grouping of surfaces at the component level.

    4D Model Linking:

Linking of models can be done with auto-matching if Schedule and 3D Objects have coordinated user fields or naming convention.

    Disadvantages:

Relies on Autodesk Labs to retain beta release of VUE loader. Requires Autodesk Manage license.

    Advantages:

Good for designs that may have changes. VUE files can be exported in intelligent groups and federated in NavisWorks.

    Troubleshooting:

If you are running Microsoft Office 32-bit, you need to install the 64-bit Microsoft Database Drivers alongside 32-bit Microsoft Office. (https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-civil-3d/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-install-64-bit-Microsoft-Database-Drivers-alongside-32-bit-Microsoft-Office.html)
The VUE loader will only import data from SmartPlant. If other 3D object types are in the VUE file the VUE loader will not import.

Thanks for the prompt response Amir, am just in the process of locating and acquiring a Autodesk Manage license for Navisworks - failing the slow corporate process I'll try a 30-day trial.

will advise if successful, i'm assuming it will be - appears to be straight forward on your YouTube post.
