3D notations linked to timeline

Is there any way to attach 3D notations to tasks so that they only appear when a task is active?  This would be really helpful as it would allow notes to be attached that are specific to certain tasks/objects that may only be visible at a certain point.

3D Notation are new in 5.2. There's no way to link them to task yet, but that is a planned improvement

Hi Kate, Is there an expected date for the 5.2 release?

5.2 also called Synchro 2016 was released in January and is available now. You can request an update here: https://synchroltd.com/update-synchro-pro/

Is it already possible to do this? Im running Synchro 5.4. Would be good to have this functionality!

3D Notations can be turned on/off in an animation (but not explicitly linked to tasks).

To show/hide a Notation in an animation:

    1. Hide all Notations: in 3D View Properties>Notations, select all Notations, then right click and "Hide in Selected [All] 3D View"
    2. In the Animation editor, with all Notations hidden, left click in the Event channel at the beginning of the animation to set the beginning state keyframe
    3. In 3D View Properties>Notations, show the Notation you want by checking the box next to it
    4. Move the focus time to where you want the Notation to appear
    5. Left click at in the Event channel at the intersection of the Focus Time - when playing your animation, the Notation will appear at this point
    6. move the focus time to when you want the Notation to disappear
    7. In 3D View Properties>Notations, uncheck the box to hide the notation
    8. Left click at in the Event channel at the intersection of the Focus Time - when playing your animation, the Notation will disappear at this point

Hi Kate, Thanks for your quick response!
If I am understanding you right then the visibility of the 3D notations can be controlled if your are playing the animation.

The reason why I want to have the timeliner connection is so when the project team is reviewing the 4D model in the Synchro Viewer they will see the 3D comments at a specific time. The animation editor is not an option then because we want to be able to navigate through the model during the review.

Is the link to the timeliner still being developed?

Yes, the Animation Editor must be used.

You can use the Animation Editor and still move around the model - create an animation where you add a Focus Time Keyframe for the start and end of your project, and the desired Event keyframes, but do not add any Camera keyframes. You can navigate around the model while the animation is playing in Synchro, or simply drag the focus time marker in the animation editor to move foward in time at your own pace. You can also use the "Move forward one step" button in the 4D Reveiw>Player ribbon to step through the animation.

Of course, linking the Notations to a task would be simpler. We had prioritized other improvements so this has not yet been implemented, but I will pass your feedback along. It's always helpful to know what is important to users
